Leghorn - Isabel LIMITED
In Northern Italy, near the port of Leghorn, were to be found a landrace of fowls, known as Livornese, that were smallish in body, but which lay very many eggs. In 1852, Captain Gates entered the harbor at Mystic, CT, and arrived with the first importation of Leghorn chickens that were to be ancestors of today’s flocks. Our farm is 25 minutes from the original port!!
We are breeding the coveted ISABEL color. This is not an APA Accepted color but gorgeous just the same!
The non-production leghorn has a conservation status of "Threatened"
These chicks are sold STRAIGHT RUN! See our FAQ page for info about our rooster surrender program, if you live locally.
